Baisakhi Recipes

People celebrate the festival of Baisakhi with great enthusiasm, as they start preparing for Baisakhi celebrations much before. Delicious food items are cooked on this festival as they highlight the celebrations of the festival.

For those who want to cook special Baisakhi food items and are looking for some guidelines can follow the recipes given below:

 

Sarson Ka Sag

Ingredients

1 kg of chopped Sarson

1/4 kg of chopped Spinach

4 cloves of crushed garlic

2 cm piece of crushed ginger

2 Green Chilies (cut into small pieces)

2 Red Chilies

2 tbsp. of Gram Flour

1 tbsp. of Butter

Ghee

Salt according to your taste

 

Method

Start boiling the greens vegetable till it becomes soft and remove excess of water.

Crush the leafy vegetables and store them.

Take 4-tbsp of ghee and add ginger, garlic, green chilies and red chilies.

As the above mixture turns brown in color add the crushed saag and salt according to your taste.

Add little water to the gram flour and add it to the saag.

Cook it for at least 30 minutes.

Serve it hot, topped with a spoon of butter.

Makki ki Roti

Ingredients

2 cups of Corn Flour or Makki ka atta

Grated radish

Warm water

Salt according to your taste

Method

Add warm water to makki ka atta and knead it before cooking the chapattis.

Add some grated radish and salt while kneading to add taste.

Put a piece of polythene paper on the kitchen floor.

Start making small balls of kneaded dough and put them on the above paper.

Cover the ball with another piece of polythene and press it with your palm to get a size of chapatti. The size of this chapatti is slightly bigger than a normal chapatti.

Now put the chapatti on a hot tava.

Roast the chapatti from both the sides.

Serve hot chapattis with sarson ka saag and butter.

Wheat Flour Laddu

Ingredients

1cup of Wheat flour

½ cup of Besan

½ cup of Sugar

½ cup of powdered sugar

½ tsp of Melted ghee

Chopped cashew nuts

Cardamom powder

½ cup of melted ghee

Method

Start heating the pan and add the melted ghee.

Cook besan and wheat flour together but do not allow the color of the flour to change.

After cooking the above mixture remove it from fire and let it cool.

Now add cardamom powder and powdered sugar and mix it.

Take a pan and melt ½ cup of sugar in it and now add ¼ cup of ghee in it.

Empty the content immediately in a bowl.

The mixture will become hard on cooling.

Mince it and mix it with the prepared flour mixture.

Fry some cashew nuts and blend it with ¼ cup of ghee.

Add it to the flour mixture and mix it.

Make small balls that will form laddus before it cools.
